Corona 1.0-7 Untether Update to Fix iBooks on 5.0.1 Jailbreak Released

Chronic Dev Team has just released the updated version Corona 1.0-7 fixing iBooks DRM and image loading bugs in already jailbroken devices running iOS 5.0.1. Additionally, Saurik has also instructed that all jailbroken devices must install and update Corona 1.0-7 untether package.

After jailbreaking the iOS 5.0.1 devices, it has been reported by many users of iBooks not launching properly, images are getting broken, or grey rectangles. The issue had been indentified and worked by @plaentbeing and he developed a utility ”crazeles” to overcome jailbreak detection by iBooks that would cause about 10% of images to show incorrectly.

Earlier this week, the patch to fix this issue was updated in Redsn0w by iPhone Dev Team and they released Redsn0w 0.9.10b5 version. Corona 1.0-7 includes the same files to fix the issue. Those A4 device users who have already used the redsn0w 0.9.10b5 jailbreak need not to install the Corona version 7.

But users, running redsn0w 0.9.10b4 or earlier on older devices and iPhone 4S, iPad 2 users running Absinthe v0.3 for jailbreaking must install use the latest Corona 1.0-7. Corona 1.0-7 is available as package from cydia and you can simply follow the guide here to install Corona 1.0-7 on your device.

In case you get confused, the team has just pushed Corona 1.0-6 version, soon after which the updated version Corona 1.0-7 was released as the earlier version was nor able to install on original iPad. So, you can easily ignore the Corona 1.0-6, as it contains no updates.

How To Fix iBooks DRM with Corona 1.0-7 Untether

 Step 1:  You must have a jailbroken device on iOS 5.0.1.

Step 2: Now go to Cydia and update it until finished.

Step 3: Under BigBoss repository, search for “Corona”. Download and install the package by pressing the install button on the top right of the screen.

Step 4: Once done, just reboot your device.

Those users who have not jailbroken their device can use Redsn0w 0.9.10b5 for A4 devices and iPhone 4S / iPad 2 users can use Absinthe 0.3 to untether jailbreak their devices.
