iTransmission 2: BitTorrent Client for iOS 5.x iPhone Revitalizated

Open source BitTorrent client for iOS has been rejuvenated and released as iTransmission 2 in Cydia by developer iOSHomebrew. iTransmission 2 tweak lets you download torrent files directly on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch easily. The enhanced tweak brings various new configuration features along with providing controller for downloading and uploading speed of the torrent.

Initially, iTransmission tweak was developed and available in cydia by iOS developer Mike Chen but the tweak soon abandoned due to some unknown reasons. Since then there was no way to directly download torrents on iOS devices. iTransmission 2 in cydia, will provide privilege the torrent users who have jailbroken iOS devices running iOS 5.x to download the torrents.

Once, iTransmission 2 tweak is installed, it provides settings under the preference pane to customize the tool. Under the web interface setting, you can select the Wi-Fi network, cellular network or even both. You can set the port number along with authentication details.

The downloading and uploading speed are set by default as maximum peers per torrent is set to 60, Global Peer limit is set to 200, download and upload limits are set to 100 kbps and 50kbps respectively. However, user can always change them as per requirement. The main screen will show the status of all the torrents downloading, either they are active or paused along with the downloading / uploading speeds.

Download for iTransmission 2 iPhone app is available in cydia for under ModMyi repo and it is free as of now. It is recommended to download only legitimate and legal torrents in order to avoid any malware on your device. Additionally, it should also be kept in mind that it consumes a lot of battery for downloading content.
