Use Terminal to Run Absinthe Jailbreak For iPhone 4S to Bypass Errors [HOW TO]

Absinthe jailbreaking tool for A5 devices was released yesterday. As the tool is quite new, many users a facing issues in jailbreaking iPhone 4S / iPad 2 with the tool like database connection error. Planetbeing, from the Dev team of Absinthe has suggested to run the tool from the command line terminal using terminal.app to avoid and bypass errors.

Those users, who are facing issues in using Absinthe tool directly, can try this alternate method to run Absinthe with command line. You can just download Absinthe from the link here and below are the simple instructions to run Absinthe to jailbreak iPhone 4S and iPad 2 from command line.

How to Jailbreak iPhone 4S / iPad 2 with Absinthe From Terminal:

Step 1: Unzip the downloaded Absinthe Zip on the desktop. Your device should be connected to the Mac via USB.

Step 2: Open terminal. For this, in the Finder, go to  /Applications/Utilities/ and click Terminal.app. The terminal window will pop up.

Step 3: Now in the terminal window, change location to the folder that contains Absinthe. For this,

Type “cd” and just drag and drop the Absinthe folder from desktop in step 1 into terminal.

Step 4: To run the Absinthe tool, type ./Absinthe.app/Contents/MacOS/Absinthe

Step 5: Absinthe will start loading, and you will see a popup screen which will run the jailbreak process.

Step 6: Absinthe will run and you will see the steps as in the guide here and your device will reboot.

Your device will be jailbroken successfully to run Cydia. Currently, Absinthe is released for Mac only. Windows users must wait a little more as windows version will be released soon.
