Pod2g Achieves iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak on iPhone 4

by Jenny Lewis on May 4, 2012

Hacker Pod2g has achieved a major milestone in untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1. The hacker has successfully untethered jailbreak running on iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1 firmware. There have been 5-6 exploits used in the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1. This also confirms that pod2g is moving with good pace to release the jailbreak.

Hacker Joshua Hill has already updated that there has been 7 exploits to overcome 5 technical hurdles along with the copyright laws issues in the untethered jailbreak. However, the kernel vulnerability was discovered by another hacker @westbaer, but the all the rest exploits by pod2g are integrated with the kernel exploit to make a complete legal untethered jailbreak solution for iOS 5.1.

As we can guess now, after untethered jailbreaking iPhone 4 successfully, the next target of the hacker will be work on iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and iPad 3 jailbreak running and testing. Though pod2g hasn’t mentioned any exact ETA for the release but with his earlier words the jailbreak will be released with in 1-2 months time frame.

You can still use the redsn0w (tethered version) to jailbreak iPhone 4, 3GS running iOS 5.1. As there is “no” untethered solution yet available, we highly recommend not to get befooled by various fraud sites claiming to provide untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.

We will be providing the untethered jailbreak methods as and when they will be available, you can connect to us on FacebookTwitter, and Google+ for getting instant updates and  releases for the jailbreak.
